The Town Of Union, New Jersey
Union Township is located in Union County, New Jersey. Approximately 58,000 people live here currently. During the 18th century, Union Township was called Connecticut Farms. The name change happened in 1808, but the township didn’t become part of Union County until almost 50 years later. Union Township is full of history and diversity.
The Union Watersphere is the worlds largest water tower of its type. The sphere-shaped tower stands over 200 feet tall. The tower holds 250,000 gallons of water for drinking. The tower is also used as a cell tower.
Thomas Edison invented the single pour concrete house. These homes were
manufactured in the early 20th century with a mold and a single pour of concrete. Edison thought this would be the quick cheap fix to the increased housing demand. However, due to the high cost of the mold, only a few houses were ever produced. Union Township still has several of these homes today. The concrete homes on Ingersoll Terrace even have formed plumbing inside the solid concrete walls.
